Almost one full year has passed.....I guess blogging seems like a great idea but living is an even better one and sometimes I just don't have time.....many improvements have been done here, the chicken house has a new outdoor area, the barn has a stage (for events of course), the fences are repaired, sprinklers all working and flower beds cropping up here and there...the bees continue to thrive. I get calls from time to time to rescue/adopt some creature needing a new home and now have added another horse, 2 ducks, and an old ewe. The garden has developed into something I enjoy looking at, with anticipation of course and the house has had plenty of paint and changes to make me feel quite at home. Still........a restlessness I have battled for sometime still haunts me and I am reminded that contentment like many things is a choice. I also realize that no matter how ideal a situation may look, human nature is human nature and to pretend its all worked out is to miss the point of process. I don't mind struggling much, though it would be nice to share that with someone. Learning to share one's space is another matter..............well let's get through another summer season and for those of you who don't know it......I hit the big 60 and sooooooooooo BARN PARTY!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to attach the flier for what we will be doing to celebrate. Should be fun....praying it will be a blessing

What a wonderful day full of birthday wishes from the special people in my life....I am soooo blessed and tonight its off to the concert in the park....tomorrow a gig at the fair and then easing into an august full of music, tree trimming, branch cleanup, garden weeding and squash pickin'!

The bees are happily buzzing and I am expecting a crop of honey to sweeten my mornings in the next couple of weeks.

One observation I made while digging up the potatoes........there is a plant that grows next to the potatoes that looks very much like a potato.....but alas....it is not....it is a very invasive weed that takes up needed space and nourishment the potatoes need to be healthy and even.........I wonder how many of these weeds are in my own life. And if I could just weed them out before they get too overgrown, before they have a chance to inhibit the good crop of spiritual fruit God is trying to harvest in my life...what a joy it would be to look back. Lord help me see before it's too late.

Oh my how time does go by.....the relay was fun. The music went well and now we are down to the business of riding Buddy! Got to get him ready for Hawaii where he will take up residence as Gracie's trusted steed! Betsy and Kay have been here for a visit and Miss Betsy has been bitten by the horsey bug herself....what to do....she has a serious job of finishing her masters degree so she can enter the world of responsible wise adults.........hmmmmmm..........Our first barn party was a wild success...attended by very special friends. Oh, did I say the pigs leave? Yes at a whopping 260 pounds they are headed to the fair for auction......the boys can't wait to get them handed over to some other care taker as they have been nominated....no....voted.....most unruly pigs in this 4H groups history!!!!

Up to 13 eggs a day and digging potatoes already from the garden! If we get any pears after the deer are finished with them I will let you know how they taste!!!!! Blessings to all of you and remember.........this is the first day of the rest of your life....spend it well........make your daddy happy!

"Pear Tree Lane" is now officially a band!!!! Yahooooooey....more to come....first gig at the Prineville relay for life...July 24th. Pictures coming and a bit of background!

Never had I thought of raising bees until I met someone who did.......I was so intrigued and began researching (short version) and purchased my first nuk.......a box with a feeder, queen and 10,000 bees.....workers, drones etc. As I basked in the sun out at the barn, doors wide open with boxes to paint and get ready for the reception of my new guests I reminisced, going over my life singing new songs of happy times, happily painting away......upon arrival my dear friends Dick and Bessie came clad in bee garb ready for the transfer from nuk box to hive box.......two deep frame boxes and one narrow honey super......(added later) that would be for the collecting of honey for my own consumption.....fast forward....the bees are happy in the orchard of 25 trees I have planted for them and a ground of clover with ample water available to them via the pond that surrounds the orchard. One month later I am sitting in the solarium drinking coffee readying myself for the day and I notice a "basket" hanging from a small tree inside the fenced yard.....realizing it is a bee swarm I call again my friend Dick and together we capture the hive and install it into a box.......not 2 weeks later that hive decides to swarm!!!! As my granddaughter Grace heads for the gate to the orchard to mow circles around the tree she is greeted by a cloud of bees swirling and circling through the air..........not 10 minutes later they alight onto a small pear tree bending the branch to the ground......to my surprise they linger for four hours while I wait for the chance to once again capture them with a new hive box........but alas as I return from watering the chickens while waiting for the box to arrive I am disappointed to find the swarm has left! Oh well, next time....meanwhile the original hive has left me a nice gift of comb drenched honey with lots of pollens in it to spread on my toast and peanut butter for lunch! Have a beeeeee--autiful day!
